It is so hard to believe that three months has almost passed. Every time when I am getting ready to leave I swear some things usually never happen. Maybe this is my New Year’s Resolutions that I was never able to keep. But… I promise myself that next time I will be more careful to take care of myself and that I will understand that planning for rest is as important as planning for meetings. Do you think I can do it?
I have had the pleasure of food poisoning for the last week. Yuck! And I feel like I never got time with my friends here.
We have had an unusual extra rainy season. This is making it so difficult for the farmers and their crops that are already planted are rotting in the ground. The question among everyone is how a true difference can be made to encourage the farmers to “figure it out” and at the same time make sure that the least amount of people die. I’m so glad I’m not the one who has to have these answers.
Congratulations to Obama and I truly am happy to think that the Democrats can start taking some of the criticism. Don’t forget that if he does a great job I will be the first to deny that I didn’t vote for him. It is wonderful to be an American and know that no matter what our political leanings are, we have a safe turnover and we can all have a public voice of our true opinions. (Okay maybe not at a party where everyone is wearing Obama T-shirts)
This has been a fabulous day. I worked on our next project proposal with a new understanding of the things that I did not understand three years ago. The main point is that there is a lot of work to do and we might as well give up thinking that we can stop before we see Fistula eradicated and the women who have suffered without hope. I think that has been my hardest struggle to agree that this is my life and not just a quick blip out of the ordinary.
It has been so fun to watch our graduation class move out on their own. They have all their household equipment and new beds and blankets. I remember my own first apartment right after high school graduation and just before college. It is as much fun as living it all again.
I am on my way to Spain on Wednesday for ten days. I promise to write all about it.
