The time is flying by! One of the things I didn’t anticipate is that we might have a few drop outs. One lady who has been here since we opened decided to move out because she didn’t want to work. She said she was looking for a place where she could be taken care of for the rest of her life without any work. I guess that’s not us but it was heart breaking anyway.

We had a lady at The Trampled Rose that reminded me once again why we are here. She arrived here with only a piece of material around her body. She was sitting on the ground like an animal. Her Fistula is so severe that she can’t even stand for one moment without a steady stream of waste. She was covered in flies and could not even look up. Her feet were swollen from a lifetime of no shoes.

Teenagers are the same everywhere. I admit mine were easy but we did have a few feuds. Our thirteen year old just came head to head with me.

It’s is so nice to come back with everyone focused on their work! Kassa did a brilliant job of keeping everyone on task. The car is finished and I have no immediate need to go to government offices so I get to spend all of every day at the Trampled Rose. I’m working on all the things that seem fun to me. Financial procedure, employee manuals, getting estimates for work, nailing down policies, but most of all playing with the ladies.

Yesterday I had a frightening experience. Kassa came to my house in the morning to pick me up, and being back only a short time, I forgot about the dogs in my compound. Usually, I am very careful when I open my door in the morning or when I arrive home because I have three wild dogs in the yard that I share with two other houses. These dogs are usually tied up (or hanged) as they call it here in the day and then let loose at night. As I walked out of my house to open the gate for Kassa’s car, the dogs attacked. I’m not sure they had ever heard an American woman scream before so it bought me some time for the guard to catch them. I don’t think I will forget again.

I had an easy trip thanks to Tylenol PM. I really did sleep most of the way and the airplane was very empty so I got to stretch out. It does help that I’m short.
