June 28, Wednesday:
Whew! Well the three new houses are open. The Black Lion project is almost finished and I haven’t been able to wash my hair in four days.
The new houses are actually what we would call one. They are all in the same compound and are three seperate rooms. I got a call from my friend Kirstin ,the wife of the Netherlands ambassador, and she set an appointment with me for tomorrow. Someone from KLM airlines has heard about our Trampled Rose and they would like to help us. Just in time!
It is very cold and rainy here. It’s amazing how this I can hate so many things one moment and then love them the next. For sure, I’m finding out lots of things about myself.
Best of all is seeing how happy the women are. We had a special party on Saturday for everyone. We had Moslem meat and Christian meat and I even forced myself to eat a little of both. Sheep legs are still not my favorite. We also had a traditional dancer and musician come. We called it “love day” because nothing is more important.
I enjoyed dinner Sunday night at the home of the European Union Ambassador and his wife Anne Clark. I’m getting to know the world right here.
I’m having lots of trouble with the Internet. I guess there is a virus from the University that has spread everywhere. So if I haven’t written lately, I will as soon as I can.
