Whew! Well the three new houses are open. The Black Lion project is almost finished and I haven’t been able to wash my hair in four days.

I’m back on the upswing of this crazy roller coaster! I had a wonderful meeting with an incredible Doctor at the Black Lion hospital. He opened all the doors and the project is well on the way. Then I went to the City Administration Office and the staff was so helpful in explaining exactly what I need to do next. I spent the night eating dinner in my home with the two guards of the compound and the very sweet lady who helps me clean my house.

What words can I use to describe my frustration with the “system”? My morning was spent begging the City Administration to allow us to buy a car and my afternoon was spent trying to get permission to enter the Black Lion Hospital. I hope I remember how easy everything is for us in the USA. I definitely need some work on my patience level.

Wow! I feel like a worm today. About half of the women who live in the Trampled Rose are Muslims. Here, all meat is slaughtered either in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, or to Allah. This means that Moslems cannot eat “Christian” meat and Christians cannot eat “Moslem” meat. Not only can they not eat it, but they cannot eat anything that has come into contact with the knife or pot that was used to cook the animal.

Whew! The time is passing too quickly! I spent the most part of yesterday working with my friend Dr. Nathan doing some data entry on a HIV research project he is doing.

I did have lots of fun with my girlfriends. On Tuesday, I met with Dr Monique Rakotomalala at her home. She is the Resident Representative for United Nations Population Fund. She loves what we are doing and has promised to renovate a building for our school and to do anything else she can. Plus, we got to talk about the importance of girlfriends in each others lives.

We are under construction! Stephane and Cristina Gompertz, The French Ambassador to Ethiopia and his wife, donated all the work and materials for a beautiful solar shower. It was fun to watch it begin from a slope of wet ground to a beautiful two stall tile shower complete with a place to wash dishes and clothes. It even has a blue canopy where the ladies can stay dry while they are washing themselves or their clothing. It’s painted soft yellow and it seems so cheery.
